Okay, let's take a look at what's new here at Decades Apart. *flips through notepad*. Oh yeah! My new camera showed up yesterday. Now, I would show you some test footage but it's an HD camera and I don't have the brain capacity to think to simultaneously buy a new editing software at the same time! Go missing brain! Actually, I didn't know this was going to be a problem. I've edited HD video before on my computer with no problem...or at least I think what we shot with was an HD camera. Actually, thinking back I think we downloaded the video to my external hard drive and transferred it to my computer. Eh, it was two years ago now so it doesn't matter.
I read some reviews saying people had problems downloading video from the camera but it's all because they don't know what firewire is. What are they amateurs? I mean, I'm an amateur but I installed my firewire card and bought a cable when I was 18. These people must be drunk. Anyway, all besides the point. I plan on getting a new editing software (something I was planning to do anyway because mine doesn't have color correction) and a microphone next. That's all I'm really willing to tell you guys right now.
This has been rough so far and I'm barely even starting on my journey. However, I do not feel any fear of what's ahead; nervousness, maybe, but not fear. It's also only been rough because I can't stop thinking. I've done what I need to do for the most part. I'm just freaking out about whatever comes next. Ha ha, I'm so nervous about doing this but also so very excited.
As for what I'm going to do with the video after I'm done...I'm not sure. I know I'll make a short preview and upload it for you guys on here. As far as the finished product goes, I'm still thinking a lot about that. Part of me wants to show it to the three people that have probably started reading this thing. Another part wants to send it off to a film festival but those cost money and they have some stupid rules (i.e. your film cannot be shown anywhere else). I've thought about youtube and vimeo but youtube is full of hate filled douche bags while vimeo has a harder time getting your stuff out there. See, this is the crap that I'm talking about worrying about. I just need to chill out and stop worrying.
One last thing, whenever production starts, I promise to upload pictures from the set and may shoot a behind the scenes video just for you guys. I really don't know yet, it's all still kinda up in the air. However, I'll give you guys a gift today. I shot some blood test footage for a scene in which the main character stabs another character. I really wanted to get a nice blood spray effect and think I finally found my means of accomplishing it. I did think of you guys while I worked on it and took some pictures to show off.
