Hello, welcome to DecadesApartFilms.com. I'm RJ Cusyk (pronounced Q-sick). This is the second Decades Apart Blog that I've done. The first one was more of a vlog of randomness. This time it's gonna be a combination, sometimes I'll blog and sometimes I'll vlog. If you're wondering, yes I am the same guy who used to run The Demise of Film. The reason I got rid of it was for two reasons:
1. I got tired of doing it and I felt that chapter of my life was over.
2. I was broke and didn't have enough to renew the web domain.
Yes, I'm going to try to be very honest with everyone. As for the vlog that I did, I honestly just wanted to be rid of it. Now for a quick history about me so that we're all on the same page.
As stated, my name is RJ Cusyk and I'm a filmmaker. I was born the day after Dragon Ball Z premiered in Japan. That also means that I share my birthday with some real bad ass dudes: Choi Min-sik (of Oldboy and I Saw the Devil fame), Casey Kasem (Shaggy from Scooby Doo), and Andre Gower (you know, that kid from Monster Squad). I've moved around a lot so finding people to shoot movies with while growing up was a bit difficult but I managed. I have a little girl. I'm very spiritual but not at all religious. I've almost died twice in the past six months (the infamous Dark Knight Rises shooting and a car accident in which my car was obliterated).
Okay, I think we're all caught up. As you can see from the above post, my car has recently been obliterated. Good news is it wasn't my fault so the insurance paid me a little bit of money. Why is this important? Okay, so I'm sure many of you remember (if we go back that far) when I was vlogging (still a word I haven't gotten used to) that I kept mentioning a little movie called Invisible Diary of a Disabled Man. Yes, I'm going to make it. Seriously. Don't laugh. After I've made it I plan to shoot my first feature length film Through the Devil's Eyes. Why don't I make that one first? Well, that's a good question. See, I would like a bit more experience with shooting (especially with actors) before I move onto my feature. I figure this short film is a good shot at both.
Why do I think I can make a feature? Well because the majority of stuff I need to shoot it I already have. I mainly wrote the feature with a very low budget in mind and the majority of the stuff needed is stuff that I already have. I'm going to try and update every week from here on out. I don't currently have a specific day but I do plan on updating weekly. Now is the time for me to put up or shut up. I'll do my best not to let all of you down.
