Spooptober II Day 11: Species

A few years ago I got really sick. I decided to take the time and watch a bunch of movies on Tubi. The two I remember watching are Prophecy and Species. I remember my mom renting Species when I was a kid, it was one of those movies they wouldn't allow me to watch. Something about it always intrigued me but I just never got around to watching it.

Species is a great creature flick. I've already mentioned Lifeforce this Spooptober, but I think this would be a good movie to add as a double header. It's about a team of scientists who receive instructions from outer space about how splice alien DNA with human DNA. The scientists do this and eventually their experiment breaks free.

​The alien lifeform is now intent on breeding to produce offspring to assist in human annihilation. That's right boys, titties are back on the menu!

I just want to say that I miss Michael Madsen. I know he's not dead but I never see him in anything anymore. If George Romero made his Resident Evil movie, I would have loved to see Madsen play Chris. That's beside the point.

I love the creature effects in this movie. I really like how the creature slowly kills off the team of people trying to capture her. The movie is just a lot of fun and critics at the time were just a bunch of weirdos that they didn't appreciate this.
