"But RJ, I haven't seen the first five Friday the 13th films!"

Cool story, bro. Here's all you need to know. Jason is a dude in a hockey mask who likes chopping up horny teens in the wilderness. In Part 4 he was killed by a boy named Tommy Jarvis.

That is literally all you need to know going into this movie. Tommy Jarvis is now an adult and is convinced for some reason that Jason isn't dead. Him and Horshack go to burn Jason's body.

In true monster movie fashion, Jason is struck by lightning and really does return from the dead like Frankenstein's monster. It is up to Tommy Jarvis to save Camp Crystal Lake.

This is my favorite of all the Friday the 13th movies. I love how they changed the name of Crystal Lake because they no longer want to associated with Jason. It has comedic bits like the guy getting stabbed into a tree and leaving behind a happy face. When people talk to me about Jason, this is the Jason I think about.

Yeah, it's not Kane Hodder, but I'm not a fan of Kane Hodder's Jason anyway. CJ Graham is not a hulking juggernaut and that's what I like about him. This looks and feels like a classic monster movie.

Director Tom McLoughlin even made it so the film transitions well to black and white. Very few horror films do that. If you have avoided all other Friday the 13th movies, I do suggest checking this one out.

Oh and of course, Alice Cooper has three songs (including the theme song) on the soundtrack.
