No, this is not The Orphan. I've had so many people think this movie and The Orphan are the same movie that I really feel like I have to state this at the beginning of the post. No, this is not The Orphan, I'm not even a big fan of that movie.

The Orphanage is about a woman who purchases the orphanage she grew up in with hopes of reopening it. However, one day her son goes missing. Didn't he mention something about a boy named Tomás? How can that be? Tomás is dead.

The Orphanage is another Spanish movie (mucho amor a España) and it definitely feels like something you could watch back to back with Pan's Labyrinth. I only reference that one because it's a more popular choice. I much more prefer to watch this back to back with Devil's Backbone.

This is not a movie that will make you jump out of your seat. However, it is a movie that slowly builds tension and leaves you waiting to see what's around the next corner.
