![]() Starring: Ashlynn Allen, Ricky Lee Barnes, and Ross Compton Written and Directed by: C. A. Smith Back in the days when I was on Twitter, I would often chat with a dude named C. A. Smith. He's a pretty cool guy, even though he likes A24. Oh well, we can't all like the same things. Anyway, C. A. would constantly encourage people to watch his found footage movie Rorschach for free through YouTube.
Naturally, I was hesitant. Mainly because I'm hesitant to watch anything on YouTube, this includes my own stuff. Also partly due to the fact I'm always skeptical when it comes to found footage films. I don't like Paranormal Activity, I don't like Blair Witch Project, but I do like Day 21's pick. Anyway... What I found was a decent found footage movie. It's not loaded with jump scares, just filled with moments of building tension. It's a genuinely good low-budget horror film, something that is getting harder and harder to find in the current state of the industry. If your idea of a scary movie is a haunted house ride where monsters pop out and go "Boo!" Rorschach is not for you. However, if you're interested in a slow burn horror flick, I definitely recommend checking it out. I cannot wait to see more from C. A. Smith.
