I stress in the title the phrase Director's Cut. It's also called the Unrated Cut. If the cut of the film you're watching is less than 100 minutes, turn it off and watch any of the other films on this list.
When I was introduced to Stay Alive it was through the theatrical cut. I thought it had a good concept but ultimately thought the movie was bull shit. A few years later I was watching GoodBadFlicks and he was talking about Stay Alive and mentioned the unrated director's cut. He mentioned all the meddling Disney did to try and "save" this movie.
I managed to track down a copy of the director's cut and found it vastly superior to the garbage Disney churned out. The only issue I have with the film is the CGI is REALLY bad. That's simply because Disney wasn't willing to give the proper CGI to the director to release with the director's cut.
I really like Stay Alive as a horror film. It's like Nightmare on Elm Street combined with my love of survival horror games. If you like games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, you'll probably connect to Stay Alive to a degree.
There is also a plot-line in the theatrical cut that was fixed in the unrated directors cut. Something like a ghost created the game and sent it out to Peter Petrelli? It was weird and dumb and it's fixed in the director's cut.
I can't stress this enough, go check out Stay Alive. It's a good horror film that was severely overlooked because of a shitty Disneyfied cut.
