Do you ever have anal leakage?
Okay, everyone gone? Good. As many of you may know, I have left twitter. This is not due to harassment or anything of the sort. I just sort of felt like I was over the whole thing. I realized that twitter was kinda sucking the life out of me. I was only there to talk about movies and look at memes but it slowly began taking over my life, I couldn't go a day without checking the stupid thing. Why? I don't care about these people and they don't care about me. I figured it's better to leave and connect with all the people I enjoyed associating with outside of the site.
Not having social media to connect with would make me batty during quarantine, right? Nah, I've just been playing guitar, working on scripts, playing video games, basically normal stuff I did before I used social media.
Oh and I also decided to bring back DemiseofFilm.com. What is Demise of Film? It was a website in the early 2010s dedicated to talking about crappy movies and problems with Hollywood. Why is it returning? Because all of the complaints lobbed against Hollywood have only gotten worse since the site shut down in 2012.
Demise of Film isn't the hero you deserve but it's the one you get until the baked potatoes are ready. Now, onto nude business.
Joe Begos is a guy who makes movies. Not just any movies mind you, movies that should not exist in today's state of crappy CGI films. They are movies that have escaped from the 1980s and are running amok in the modern day. His first effort, Almost Human, was rather lackluster. Then again, this is coming from the guy who made Through the Devil's Eyes so who am I to talk? Mind's Eye, which was Joe's second film, is where he really started finding his footing as a director. It was a cheap thrill ride which felt reminiscent of Scanners if Scanners had no money. Sure, some of the effects were cheap as hell but the movie was fun.
Joe then disappeared for four years and emerged from his chrysalis with a hard hitting double header Bliss and VFW. Bliss is an experience way more than a movie. Not gonna lie, I almost turned it off when I watched the first five minutes, I said "This character is waste of life." But I kept in mind that something bad will happen to her. It does, believe me, it does. I just strapped in and wanted to see where it took me.
Bliss doesn't care about you and it doesn't want to make you feel good. It wants to feel dirty, gritty, like you need a shower. Bliss is a work of art and accurately describes the insatiable hunger inside of all artists. It's a gore filled mess and I loved every second of it.
VFW is more like Joe's early work. It's just an 80s tribute in the modern day. It's set in a post-apocalyptic hell hole where junkies roam the streets and old people hang out in bars (aka Modern Day LA). It's basically a zombie movie without zombies and is good fun if you just like gore and just want to watch From Dusk Til Dawn with junkies instead of vampires (Fred Williamson is in it too).
In conclusion, Joe Begos is a bad ass dude that you need to keep an eye on if, like me, you feel movies really need to make a return to the crazy stuff from the 80s.
This concludes the first issue in the return of Demise of Film. Remember to like and subscribe and see you when I see you.
