I will occasionally browse YouTube and Instagram and get stupid recommendations that I have no interest in. Lately, these stupid recommendations have concerned the Barbie movie and each of these recommendations is about how people (particularly men) are angry about the movie. This makes me wonder though, does anyone really care?
I am forced to question this because of Ghostbusters (2016), a movie I was told by the mainstream media that I'm a sexist pig for not wanting to exist. Meanwhile, I didn't want that movie to exist because I think the Ghostbusters should have died with Extreme.
I remember when James Rolfe said he had no interest in reviewing the movie and alleged wife slayer Patton Oswalt had to weigh in and attacked Rolfe personally. James didn't say anything negative, he simply said that he didn't want to see the movie.
Again, I am asking, does anyone really care about the Barbie movie? Maybe it's just the victim mentality that plagues so many people who are chronically online. I cannot tell you how many chicks I see on social media complaining about how the "name three songs" meme is sexist.
It's not sexist, it's a form of gatekeeping. Gatekeeping is a hazing process; if you can take it, you're cool; if you can't, go back home. If getting called a poseur is really that upsetting for you, then you should stop being a fuckin' poseur.
I digress. I don't know, maybe I'm the only sane person left on Earth because I really couldn't care less about a movie. It is really annoying getting inundated with memes about a movie I don't care about constantly grandstanding how the movie isn't for me.
Of course the movie isn't for me. It doesn't have dragons, heavy metal, insane gore effects, mythical monsters, or any of the other things I look for in movies. My tastes in movies and books is extremely juvenile and if something doesn't cater to that, I just figure it's not for me.
Again, does anyone really care?
