This is one of those films that has slowly been gaining a cult following and I am so happy. I remember seeing the trailer for Trick 'r Treat on a DVD back in 2007. It seemed super interesting and I immediately added it to my Netflix queue.
And then I waited... Trick 'r Treat finally came out in 2009 and no one I knew was talking about it and even when people thought they had seen it, they thought it was that movie from the 80s. So yeah, for once, I'm really glad to see a movie slowly gaining attention. Trick 'r Treat is an anthology movie, like Creepshow. However, as opposed to the stories being told individually, they are interspersed within one another culminating in an ending where the stories all intersect and come full circle back to the beginning of the movie. The effects are great and Brian Cox's story is definitely my favorite, but that might just be because I love Brian Cox. However, I also enjoy the story with Anna Paquin as well. She really excels at playing a naïve young lady. If you haven't seen this movie yet, I highly recommend it, as it's one of my favorites. It's also getting a sequel? Maybe I'll cover it for Spooptober II: Return to Spooptober Lake.
