"Oh no, my favorite movie of 2022 has appeared on The Demise of Film. That retarded guy is just gonna shit all over it."
Why would you think that? Am I really so cynical that you just think I can't enjoy anything? Okay, well fair enough. However, I'm here to praise Bullet Train instead of suck all the joy out of it. I went in with really low expectations and came out surprised. Heck, even my daughter liked this and she doesn't like most movies.

Do you know what I found out when looking up this movie? The guy who wrote the book also wrote the novel that Fish Story is based on. I really am starting to feel obligated to cover Fish Story on Demise of Film. First it was The Booth and now Bullet Train. All surprisingly good movies lead back to Fish Story.

I think a big reason why I haven't covered Fish Story is the same reason that I'm having trouble talking about this movie. It's one of those movies where everything connects. Isn't it funny that everything connects and it's like all these movies are connected to Fish Story?

I digress. One of the things I really liked about this movie is the over-the-top style. Why does Michael Shannon roll the chamber of his revolver against his arm? Who cares? It looks bad ass and I love how David Leitch went in for close-ups to make it super cool. Why do the Yakuza members wear masks? Because it's cool.

The thing my daughter really enjoyed about this was how she cared about Lemon and Tangerine and absolutely despised Joey King. She said she hasn't seen many movies that make her hate the villain as much as this one did. Personally, I'm dead inside but I still really enjoyed the relationship between Lemon and Tangerine.

Honestly, if Prisoners of the Ghostland was more like this, I definitely would have liked it more. So yes, I do recommend Bullet Train.
