I've been thinking a lot. If I can move, I want to start focusing on expanding the business. See, as it is right now, I only get like $1.00 every time you buy a copy of Through the Devil's Eyes and a fraction of that for A Final Hit (other proceeds going to Gregg). When you think about it, that's pretty shitty. I've been thinking about distributing our own DVDs.
See, because of Amazon, my movies need to be compressed to an aspect ratio of 4:3 on DVD because they can't take much file size. Yeah, you can expand the picture and it looks fine on your TV but having the format be 4:3 pisses me off.
Do you know what else I want to put on the DVDs? Extras and previews! I want you guys to get more bang for your buck and with Amazon, I can't do that. I also want to give you guys better looking covers. Have you seen the DVD covers for A Final Hit and Through the Devil's Eyes? They're boring! Yeah, Amazon is Region Free but what good is that if no one is buying them?
As I've stated in the past, Colorado's film community is drying up. Anyone who says otherwise is a freaking liar. I want to move to get more film work so I can make better DVDs for you guys and also continue making more movies.
See, I've been thinking a lot and there are a few problems with Decades Apart Productions.
Did I say a few? I mean a lot! We are somehow known in Colorado but no one has seen our films. Being prevented from moving is really hurting the company. I want to make the site bigger and better. I want to promote more. I want to see how high this rocket can fly.
We finished that short the other day, just waiting on music. The people who have seen it have said it's hilarious. However, if you're a YouTube user, you won't enjoy it since I'm releasing a cut version to YouTube.
Anyway, those are my thoughts and ramblings.
